Usher in April, National Poetry Month with the inaugural session of our NEW 2019 series of Poetry Workshops this Saturday, April 6th from 1-3:30PM.

Light refreshments will be served.

Poetry Workshop: Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan

Meet Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan, founder of The North Sea Poetry Scene Press and first female Suffolk County Poet Laureate from 2009 to 2011.  Author of the recently published chapbook Howling the Moon, Ms. Nuzzo-Morgan will be introducing the work of Anne Bradstreet and poets of America’s colonial era.  Join us for a lively discussion to be followed by exercises in poesy and free verse.

About the series:

The Poetry Workshop series will continue throughout the year, on the first Saturday of each month as we read from a broad range of works including poems by Sappho, Ted Hughes, Allen Ginsburg, Pablo Neruda, Ella Wheeler Wilcox, and Robert Frost.

Ms. Nuzzo-Morgan presents a down-to-earth celebration of the sublime medium of poetry. Learn about our legacy and engage with our newest poets.  Appropriate for poetry aficionados and the uninitiated alike.

Each session allows the writer to read some of their work and receive valuable input from professional librarians, an editor and fellow writers. Please bring in any writing material and/or the ideas you are working on. Together we will work towards bringing your goals to fruition. Most sessions will allow time to read from what you have written and analyze it with your peers. In the coming months, you can look forward to meeting guest speakers for professional guidance and support.
